How the ancient city finder works

Ancient cities generate deep underground in the deep dark biome, around Y −51, and hold echo shards, disc fragments, swift sneak books and the warden. This finder lists the closest ancient cities to spawn and marks all of them on the map. Switch the height selector to Deep to see the deep dark biome itself.

Enter a seed in the box above the map and press Map it. The Find nearest panel on the left runs automatically for this structure and lists the closest results with distances from spawn. Click a result to center the map on it, then use Copy X Z or Copy /tp. Change the version selector to match your game; placement shifts between updates.

Tips

  • Dig down at the marker to around Y −40 and you will land in the city. Come with wool, no armor noise, and a plan.
  • Ancient cities exist from 1.19 onward. Pick an older version and the layer disappears.
  • The center of the city, with the portal-like frame, is roughly at the marker.
